PATIO ROCK STAR

Sun's down, the crowd is coming over me,
Front row is breaking down security.
The encore's a cover of the Beach Boys,
The phone rings, song stops, it brings me down to earth.

I'm just a Patio Rock Star, on my five string guitar,
A Patio Rock Star, waving at the passing cars.
Just a Patio Rock Star, I open for your favourite CD.

Ninth floor, playing to the rooftops,
Front Porch, hoping that her car stops.
I close my eyes and sing it real dramatically,
I open up my eyes, I'm singing to a squirrel.

I'm just a Patio Rock Star, on my five string guitar,
A Patio Rock Star, waving at the passing cars.
Just a Patio Rock Star, I open for your favourite CD.

I've been Free Falling, Crash Into Me, Mr.Jones might be sinking down in New Orleans,
Hey, Jude's trying out some Green Eggs and Ham, while Elton John and Eminem are busting into Stan.
Singing Bye Bye Miss American Pie, Sugar Ray once told me that he wanted to fly,
And Louis Armstrong sings about a Wonderful World, but all they wanna hear is Brown Eyed Girl.

Patio Rock Star, on my five string guitar,
A Patio Rock Star, waving at the passing cars.
I'm just a Patio Rock Star, should've known I'd get this far.
I'm just a Patio Rock Star, and I open for your favourite CD.

BETTER DAY

It's been a long time since I slept in, maybe July,
Been a long time since I sat round, getting high.
I've had my Christmas in mid summer, my Easter's yesterday,
But it don't mean when I get my lovin', I found me a better day.

Found me a better day.

I forget about all those empty promises, made in the spring,
Forget about sitting up and waiting for the telephone to ring.
So I grab an Alexander, right before I stand there, on my way,
My refrigerator's running, my friends are coming, we found us a better day.

Found me a better day.

Walking in the spotlight, blinded by the sunlight, everything is alright found me a better day.

I've got this record right behind me, 7 guys have played the drums,
Made my way out of the (Scar)borough, but I didn't pack a gun.
And now I've found the matching sock behind my couch in disarray,
And it don't mean nothing, when I get my loving I found me a better day.

Found me a better day.

CHRISTMAS IN AUGUST

The lights are green as I make my way through the city,
Got Crows Counting on my old radio.
I'm talking to a girl, she's so damn pretty,
Sweating from the heat, though it's starting to snow.

And it's Christmas in August, I'm finding out things,
That I haven't known for some time.
I'm in shorts in December, for once in my life,
Everything seems to be fine.

The sky was black today, but it cleared without rain,
My shoes had a hole but I found a new pair.
She grabbed a rose by its thorns, but she didn't feel no pain,
And I told her I loved her, but I wasn't scared.

And it's Christmas in August, I'm finding out things,
That I haven't known for some time.
I'm in shorts in December, for once in my life,
Everything seems to be fine.

It's not the end of the day 'til I'm dreaming,
I'm not sure where my next meal might be.
But if I'm happy, when all I'm doing is dreaming,
Well I'd rather be dreaming, than crying bout miss(ed) misery.

I fall as I step outside of the theatre,
Looking down I see I just missed broken glass.
And the girl with the flashlight, she asks me to see her,
Face down on the street I'm forgetting the past.

And it's Christmas in August, I'm finding out things,
That I haven't known for some time.
I'm in shorts in December, for once in my life,
Everything seems to be fine.

THE OTHER ONES

I'm calling, up tall and looking down to where your pedestal now stands,
I'm taken, mistaken you for an angel who never learned to fly.

And back in New York by the runway, I see that old familiar smile,
It seems that you've become last season, and I'm in style.

Without a clue, she's like the other ones,
She's dressed in blue, just like the other ones,
She's nothing new, just like the other ones.

You need time, well stand in line, life doesn't stop to let you take a breath,
I missed you, now wish you'd never seen a tear run from my eye.

And I'll forget you in Toronto, and about those winter nights,
As you hear me on the radio, see my name in lights.

Without a clue, she's like the other ones,
She's dressed in blue, just like the other ones,
She's nothing new, just like the other ones.

I loved you 'November,
you broke me back in the spring,
Forgot your last name by December,
And knew you'd never be the queen beside this king.

You lost me, the cost we paid is a smile upon your face,
Now in time, we'll cross lines, and yes, I'll sign an album for your kids.

And I'll forget you in Toronto, and about that New York smile,
It seems that you've become last season, and I'm in style.

DISNEYLAND

We waited for October, just to play in scattered leaves.
Our winter was in wonder, with our gloves latched onto our sleeves.
I never cared to travel, my apartment had it all,
A bed and my Nintendo, and my best friend right down the hall.

Growing old, always complicates my plans,
Take me back, to Disneyland.

We used to ride on transit, just to pull the yellow cord,
Built forts down in the valley, when I was feeling kind of bored.
My mother always told me, just to turn the other cheek,
While I broke up with my girlfriend, another movie of the week.

Growing old, always complicates my plans,
Take me back, to Disneyland.

And if you call "Marco", I'll cry "Polo",
We'll talk in code so no one knows.
We won't worry bout beginning or think about the end,
Don't you drift away you're my best childhood friend.

We fought the frameless dragon, without an ounce of fear,
Like in Charlie and his Chocolate, we're putting gum behind our ears,
We never had a colour, we didn't know or care,
And I could tell you that I liked you, just by pulling on your hair.

Growing old, always complicates my plans,
Take me back, to Disneyland.
