not Fighter, Mike Lawless began his musical career at the
tender age of 6 when he learned to master the demo button on his
keyboard. 18 years later, Lawless is on the verge of releasing his
first studio EP, "Patio Rock Star".
As a vocalist, pianist, and guitarist, Lawless has
managed to woo crowds with his infectious melodies and personal
lyrics. His stories of life, love, and the pursuit of so-called
happiness have been welcomed by the audiences he has performed
for around the globe. Mike has an uncanny ability to relate
to his audience and touch each one of them in one way or another.
His songs have the gift of becoming the soundtrack to the lives
of his fans and it is this quality which will continue to propel
him from patio rockstar onward.
While this EP will showcase his talent in the studio,
his ever-increasing fanbase has grown due to a five year schedule
of relentless performing. While being a university student, University
of Western Ontario Student Council President, and then handling
a full time job, Mike has played weekly in clubs, bars, and on
university campuses. While the core of his performing has been
in Canada, Mike has captivated audiences from as far away as New
Zealand. A year long weekly show at Rockwaters Pub in London
combined with frequent performances across South-Western Ontario
prepared Mike for his most recent musical challenge as a solo
performer in the piano bar on a luxury Caribbean cruise.
Lawless' upcoming EP, "Patio Rock Star",
marks his first official release. Stories of lost love, childhood
innocence, and better days are told throughout the EP and are
certain to strike a chord with anyone who listens.
A prolific array of Canadian talent joins Mike on
this release. Drummer Mark Kelso has played with everyone
from Pete Townshend to Shania Twain. Bassist John Dymond's
credits include work with KD Lang and Bruce Cockburn. Keyboardist/Engineer
Steve Klodt has lent his precious hands to several renowned
artists including Amanda Marshall and Jeff Healey.
The credits extend past the artists to the production
team, which includes Canadian Independent Songwriter/Producer,
Gregg Lawless and engineer Scott Lake who has worked
with countless artists including The Barenaked Ladies, Big Sugar,
and Keith Richards.
While there is an uncertainty when looking into
the future of young songwriters, those who have witnessed what
Mike Lawless brings to the table have an overwhelming belief that
his future just might take him off the patio and propel him to
greater things.
Take a listen. He'll make you believe too.
